Our story

My nan Dorothy — Dot to everyone who knew her — fed the birds from her kitchen window in Shrewsbury for thirty-eight years. Rain, frost, the lot. She knew which robin was which. She gave them names, which she'd deny if you asked her.

When she moved in with us, I took over her feeder. Kept it going through the autumn. And one morning in November I finally looked properly at what I'd been putting out, and it was soaked through and going green underneath.

I looked it up. Wet seed grows mould, and mould makes small birds very ill indeed. My nan had been doing it every single morning for nearly four decades, with nothing but love, and nobody had ever told her.

So I went looking for a feeder that would actually keep seed dry through a British winter. Not one that looked nice in a catalogue. One that worked in the rain we actually get.

That's the whole of it. GardenWing makes the things I couldn't find. Dot is ninety-one now and still asks after the robins.

What we build for

Quiet competence. We make things well and don't make a fuss about it.

Kindness, practically applied. We don't sell sentiment. We sell the thing that fixes it.

Built for a British winter. Not “weatherproof”. British rain, British frost, and the squirrel next door.

The garden belongs to everyone in it. It's yours. It's also theirs.
